The Hillyard festival started in 1911 and has continued to grow, evolve, and develop over the years. Depending on your age, you might know the festival as “Hi-Jinx, Hillyard Heritage Celebrations, Hillyard Days, and even Jim Hill Days.” The festival may have had many names through the years but only has one meaning; “Community.” Businesses, schools, organizations, committees and individuals are all working together to make the festival…and our community…better and better every year.
This annual three day festival opens on Friday in Sharpley-Harmon park on North Market street in Hillyard – with live music, food, vendors and the annual beer garden. Then on Saturday there is always lots of activities including the Hi-Jinx parade, all-day bingo, Roll “N” Hillyard car show that has moved back in the park, and fireworks later that evening. The weekend closes out on Sunday with an inter-denominational church service along with more live entertainment, vendors and activities.
